Cherry has come home to Blythewood Farm...and she has brought a friend!

We're pleased to welcome Blythewood Cherry Pop Tart and owner Debra Strong, back to their "home base" here at Blythewood after several months in training with Mike Schaffer, who also worked with Cherry's half-brother Blythewood Doc Hollywood for owners Barbara and Joe Filippello from Little Egg Harbor and also Cherry's 3-year-old half-sister Blythewood Pop Quiz ("Kizzy") during his stay here at Blythewood. Cherry, Doc, and Kizzy were all sired by John & Georgie Green's stallion Roadshow Dr. Pop from Texas. Cherry is out of Callie-Ann, Doc is out of Blythewood Polly Vermont, and Kizzy is out of Blythewood Royal Isabella. These horses have such good minds and sweet personalities--having a chance to work with Mike is icing on the cake for our Blythewood family!

Coreen Ashmore goes west

We have sold Coreen Ashmore to our friend Tracy Lee, who has relocated back to Oklahoma, her original home. She had Coreen on lease for a few months and told us she wants to take Coreen with her. Tracy and Coreen have been practicing with the local drill team and hope to compete with the team this summer (2008).

2007 foals

Our first 2007 foal...a bay colt [gelding] born March 18th, 12:15 PM. Burnt Mtn Ebony Hawk x Blythewood Royal Isabella. Name: Blythewood Tommy Hawk. He's a full brother to Blythewood Casino Royale and Blythewood Hawk Mountain. A tall, substantial colt, Tommy is the pasture social director, and he waits at the gate for all the other foals to arrive, to lead them off on an adventure and play. Wait 'til you see his way of going; he has great potential and a very nice way about him.  More about Tommy...

Our sharp-dressed black colt [gelding] with those white stockings catches everyone's eye. His name is Blythewood Bolero, sired by Raynyday Squire Jack out of  Culpeper Sonata. Born April 6th, 9:30 PM. Bo outwalks virtually every other horse on the property and has a lovely round trot with beautiful suspension. This is an outstanding colt, he is very nice to work around, and his talent will take him far. More about "Bozie"...

Chestnut filly by Raynyday Squire Jack out of Callie-Ann. Born April 13, 6AM. Name: Blythewood Abby Jaquith. She's known as "Jackie". Weighed a whoppin' 118 lb at birth!!! She stood waist high to me at her withers when she stood after birth and she measured 14.1 at one year. Jackie has shed out this spring to be a bit lighter than you see her here, but it is a very lovely color and she has excellent conformation, a charming personality, size, athleticism, and excellent bone structure. Jackie holds great promise as a super athletic performer. More about Jackie...

Chestnut filly with a flaxen mane and tail by Raynyday Squire Jack out of Blythewood Polly Vermont. Born April 14 10AM. Name: Blythewood Molly Bridget. We call her "Bridget". She has a darling personality and she's just as smart as she can be.  A lovely floating trot like her mom and granddam, she is poetry in motion. We are getting closer every day to thinking Bridget needs to stay right here with us; she is very special. More about Bridget...

BIRTHDAY LULLABY
(All Through The Night)
by Rusti Quinto

Hush, sweet mare, don't be uneasy, it will be alright.
I'll be here if you should need me, all through the night.
What you feel is Nature's warning
That your foal will soon be born, and
He'll be at your side by morning,
To see the dawning light.

The miracle of life repeats all over the earth,
Every time a mother greets her babe at it's birth.
Look, sweet mare, your foal is coming,
One more push and you'll be done, and
Time to meet your little one
For all your love is worth.

Welcome to the world, sweet foal, so tiny and new.
Soon your future will unfold with things to see and do.
There will be some pain and trauma,
It's all part of Nature's drama,
Snuggle up beside your Mama,
She'll watch over you.

I smile and watch you try to stand on legs that shake and slide
And wobble as you take your first steps to your mother's side.
I dream about the days to come
When you and I will play and run, and
Through the years, dear little one,
I'll be your friend and guide.
